Which work needs to resume first?
A complete list of files is helpful. A short list of essential work is even more useful when your team cannot access what it needs.
Shared folders and everyday documents
Recover access to proposals, spreadsheets, design assets and project directories stored on office computers, external drives or shared storage. Identify the folder names, owners and most recent usable versions.
Accounting and application data
Business software may rely on a database, attachment folders, configuration files and the correct application version. We establish what must be recovered and which owner or vendor can verify that the restored data opens correctly.
Server, NAS and workstation storage
Assess failed drives, unreadable volumes, missing shares and machines that no longer boot. For multi-drive systems, preserve the original drive order and hardware. Our RAID and NAS service covers the storage-specific assessment.
Backups and archived copies
Review existing backups, snapshots and older exports before choosing a recovery path. A usable backup may provide the needed files without working directly on failed media. Keep original backup sets unchanged while deciding what to restore.
Keep file recovery and service restoration connected.
One authorized contact, a clear priority list and an agreed destination make the technical work easier to validate.
Intake and authority
Identify the business owner or authorized IT contact, affected systems and failure timeline. Agree who can approve work and receive status updates. Mention sensitive data categories so handling requirements can be discussed without sending the data through the public form.
Assess sources and agree the scope
Review the failed media, existing backups, encryption and previous attempts. Define priority files, proposed recovery work, cost and expected timing. An assessment informs the plan; it is not a promise that every file is recoverable.
Recover and validate
Agree the destination for recovered data and nominate someone who can check representative files. For business applications, verify the data with the required software or vendor rather than relying only on filenames and folder sizes.
Restore operations and improve protection
Decide how verified files return to the working environment. Review access, backup coverage and restore checks after the immediate issue. Ongoing maintenance can be handled through a separate managed IT support plan.
Match the recovery plan to what happened.
The same missing folder can have very different causes. Explain the event and keep the original sources intact.
A computer fails before a deadline
Tell us whether essential work lived only on the computer or was also synced or backed up elsewhere. Bring the original device and list the project folders needed first. Avoid resetting or reinstalling the system before data priorities are assessed.
A shared drive disappears
Record whether one employee or the whole office is affected, any storage alerts and recent network or account changes. A permission or network problem may not require data recovery; an unreadable volume or multiple failed disks may.
Files are deleted, replaced or corrupted
Note when the last correct copy existed and pause writes to the affected storage. We review backups and versions alongside storage recovery options. A file that appears in a recovered listing still needs to be checked for usable contents.
A security incident affects business data
Separate compromised devices from normal business use and preserve relevant details. We can discuss data recovery or backup restoration alongside your security response. Do not reconnect restored systems until the agreed containment and cleanup steps are complete.
An Irvine contact for your recovery plan.
We work with business owners and IT contacts in Irvine, Tustin, Costa Mesa and nearby Orange County. Visit 20 Corporate Park, Ste 118, Irvine, CA 92606 for walk-in intake from 10 AM–6 PM. Call before moving server equipment; on-site and remote sessions are arranged by appointment.
Active storage failure
Keep the original hardware together and record what changed. For arrays, label bay positions and retain removed drives.
